“Alain Bertaud on Vancouver” features the reflections of the former Chief Urban Planner of the World Bank and author of the internationally acclaimed book “Order Without Design”. Bertaud worked for le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret designing Chandigarh in India for his first job. Since then he has advised 50 cities around the world and helped both Russia and China transition from planned cities to more market-based cities.
Alain’s book “Order Without Design” is revolutionizing the way cities throughout the world are being managed, bringing his message that cities are complex systems that sometimes need the approach of a designer, sometimes the approach of a gardener.
